What is NMPSA?

Purpose

NMPSA is a non-profit organization of local governments whose purpose is to provide high-quality, affordable training to Upper Peninsula municipal employees and non-profit organizations.

Membership

Any city, village, county or township in the Upper Peninsula may join NMPSA as a full member. Associate memberships are available to non-municipal entities and provide all the privileges of a full membership except for the right to vote or hold elective office.

Origins

NMPSA was created in 1999 with a partnership between Upper Peninsula municipalities, the Michigan Municipal League and Northern Michigan University.

Mission

The Northern Michigan Public Service Academy (NMPSA) shall foster and encourage the personal and professional development of its members in order that they may better serve their communities and organizations.

Funding

NMPSA is currently funded through annual membership fees. If you would like to financially support the goals of NMPSA, please contact the NMPSA Director or any NMPSA member.

Our Board

Regular Board Meetings are held quarterly on the third Thursday - location and time TBD.
